The Week Ahead

This Sunday is 5th Sunday of Easter. Linda's message will be on “Stones.” There will be special music by Ann Marie and Liz in place of the choir while Marya is out of town. We will celebrate communion.

Join A Team

The Session approved the creation of the following Leadership Teams, which will self-organize and have broad responsibility, including those derived from the previous committees listed respectively. Elders will lead and be members of each team, with members of the congregation joining to carry out the various tasks and responsibilities to complete the work of the church.

Teams are starting to organize and gather information about what needs to be done who can take on the work. Members and friends are needed to fill out teams and help with the various activities and projects.

Faith and Congregational Life

This team will be responsible for those functions carried out by the Worship, Theology, and Music committee, Christian Education, and Fellowship.

Mission and Outreach

This team will be responsible for the functions carried out by the Mission committee to include financial support of internal and external mission programs and member support of programs such as the Monday Night Supper mission and staffing at the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry. This team will also revive the Membership committee to promote Northside to the community to attract new members.

Resource Stewardship

This team will be responsible for the functions carried out by the Finance and Facilities committee, Human Resources, and the Garden of Remembrance committee. The functions of the Memorials Board with its current members shall be incorporated into the work of this team.

Board of Deacons

The Board of Deacons continues its responsibility for congregational and pastoral care, reporting to Session.

Monday Night Supper

This week's meal was smothered pork chops, rice, green beans, fruit, and cookies. We served 78 meals.

Thanks to our volunteers this week: Frieda and Charles, Barbara, Alex A., Kobby, Pam, Alex C., Susan, and Heidi and Bruce.

Bag Collection: If you have groceries delivered from Kroger, please save the large delivery bags and bring them to the church. If you have friends who get deliveries and don't know what to do with the bags, we can use them. They are the right size to pack multiple meals for delivery to the parking lot. It is a good way to recycle the bags, reducing the need to order brown paper shopping bags.

Volunteers to help prepare and pack meals are always welcome and needed.
