Coming Sunday and Beyond
Linda will preach on “Being Disciples.” The choir returns and will sing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee." Sunday School starts after Fellowship time. Linda will start off the Sunday School year with her series on the history of western Christianity, Lucian will continue on John, and the kids will be having a short learning time with Susan downstairs during church time after they have their time in the sanctuary.
The women of the church are invited to meet on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 1:00 p.m. to discuss plans for Bible study this year.

New sign-up System There are a variety of ways to serve the congregation by volunteering to help in the nursery, usher, host fellowship time, or read the scripture during worship. Typically someone emails a list of "regulars" to collect dates of availability, creates a schedule, then goes back and forth to fill open dates. The other method is to track people down during fellowship time to ask them to fill a date and position.
This process won't go away, but it will be easier with a bit of on-line help. There is now a form on the website where you can pick the positions you wish to fill and the dates you will serve. Go to https://www.nsidepresbburg.org/volsign/ to start.
Select a position you are interested in helping with and click the "Submit" button. You will see a form that lists open dates for that position. Select the dates you are available to help, enter your name, phone number, and email, then submit the form. You will receive a confirmation email showing the position and dates you signed up for.
As always, you will receive a reminder email the Thursday before you are scheduled to help.

Support UKIRK Campus Ministry Students come to UKirk because they have found a safe place where they can be themselves and grow in faith. Together with friends, they worship, play, question and participate in mission. UKirk is growing the future leaders of the church. The impact of this ministry on the lives of students is immeasurable. It will last throughout their lives.
Fall semester has started here at UKirk, the Presbyterian Campus ministry at Virginia Tech. Each week, students will gather to worship, serve, study, and share life together. Some will be asking big questions about God. Others will be looking for community. Many will be seeking justice, hope, and purpose. In the heart of it all is UKirk, a sacred space where students are known, loved, and empowered to grow as they live into their baptismal vocations as disciples of Jesus Christ.
We invite you to be part of this transformative journey. Your support makes possible:
- Meals to be shared in community - Worship to nourish heart and mind - Students to attend retreats regardless of ability to pay - Pastoral care to reach those in crisis - A new generation to lead with compassion and courage
A gift of $25/month can sponsor a student meal. A gift of $100 helps send a student on retreat.
Every gift, large or small, helps fuel this ministry of presence, peace, and purpose.
You can give in several ways: * online at https://www.pcusa-vt.org/donate * or by sending a check to UKirk at following address:
UKirk 305 Washington Street, SW Blacksburg, VA 24060
THANK YOU for making this important work possible. Without you, UKirk at VT would not be possible. We're thankful to have you as part of our team.
